2022 New Years Nails

Firework-inspired holo, iridescent, and metallic radial gradients.

All materials used are from Holo Taco.

Polishes: Long Lasting Base, Royal-Tea Blue, Mint Money, Sonic Unicorn Skin, Lunar Unicorn Skin, Gold Flake Taco, Galactic Unicorn Skin, One Coat Black, Scattered Holo Taco, and Glossy Taco.

Supplies: large holo glitters, dotting tool (or something thin to place the glitters with), striping tape, makeup sponge.

Process:

  1. Paint Long Lasting Base. Usually I would put smoothing base too, but there are so many layers on this manicure that it is not necessary.

  2. Paint two layers of Royal-Tea Blue.

  3. Apply liquid latex around the nail.

  4. When Royal-Tea Blue is COMPLETELY dry, sponge the firework colors into the corners of the nails, creating a diagonal gradient. Going from thumb to pinky, I used Mint Money, Sonic Unicorn Skin, Lunar Unicorn Skin, Gold Flake Taco, and Galactic Unicorn Skin.

  5. Seal with Glossy Taco.

  6. When the Glossy Taco is COMPLETELY dry, place striping tape to form a ‘star burst.’ All pieces of tape should start together at the corner with the most concentrated unicorn skins/metallic flakes and reach outward.

  7. Paint One-Coat Black over the nail (a thick layer, if it isn’t perfect in a thin coat) and immediately take off the striping tape.

  8. Paint Scattered Holo Taco over the nails. While it is still wet, apply the large holo glitters. Do this by licking the tip of your application tool (so that the glitters will temporarily stick) then poke the spot where you want the glitter to be. The glitter will stick if the last coat is still wet.

  9. Seal with Glossy Taco.
