Honorable Mention—Scholastic Arts and Writing 2023

Ohhh boy. I started this in late January, thinking, I have plenty of time to get this one done, photographed, and copied before our birthdays in Mid-March! Well. It took so long that I had to retouch most of this drawing several times because the mere breeze caused by me walking past it so many times had lifted layers of graphite off the paper. This project was one for tears. I’m quite proud, considering how much time and effort and new textures I had to learn on the spot, but I don’t think I can ever truly be happy with this piece (it has my face, front and center, after all). I’m still annoyed about the noses. I really need more practice with noses.

See below for in the process of shots, aka photos that really scream “trust the process.”
