Although I don’t do much graphic design, when Kayu reached out to me to design their 2023 Holiday Card, I decided to try something new. I wanted it to be classy and simple, while also soft and cozy with a touch of storybook aesthetic. After sketching some elements that blended Kayu with the holidays—and featuring their classic clutch, Jen with White Stones in the colorway Toast—I spent a long time trying to find a color family that all fit together—soft, muted, and balanced. I found that screening my colors with red in Procreate helped bring cohesion with the Toast color of the clutch. I spent hours crosshatching—which is a new style for me, though I’m happy with how it came out. Overall, this project was so fun and I’m glad I had the opportunity to try something new. Thanks, Kayu!
