Using the juxtaposition between organic plant life and the geometric city, I created a piece that highlighted the difference between worlds. The plants and gate are based on an image I took in Germany, a first world urbanized, industrialized country, while the ink print is a view of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, a third world country known for its food exports and rivers. Although Germany’s population is over 75% urban and Vietnam’s population is about 60% rural (worldbank.org, 2020), there is still lush nature in Germany and towering cities in Vietnam.
